About Me

Sigh. This is the bit no one likes, right? Like the part of the interview where they ask you what your weaknesses are, and you try desperately to think of something to say that is honest and reflective but doesn't immediately make them march you out of the office or call for security?!

Anyway, I'm a 40-something writer from Scotland. I am a corporate writer by trade, currently on a contract with a financial services company writing content for internal communications. I consider myself very fortunate that I get to write for a living - one day it'll be a novel!

My most favourite role though is that of mum. I am very lucky to be mum to a wonderfully funny, kind, talented, gorgeous and original daughter. She's currently studying at uni, and she's in the last year of an art degree. I had my daughter reasonably young, which means that we get on quite well, and we both enjoy travelling, photography, music, social media, shopping, eating in cute cafes, etc, so she still will spend time with me!

I have a deep seated desire to be organised and that comes through in my love of planners (I currently have 6 for this year alone - not quite sure what I'm going to use them all for), my constant need to rearrange storage or buy storage solutions, and my never-ending hunt for the perfect bag that has just the right amount of pockets, holds my world, but yet is stylish and doesn't require a crane to carry on a daily basis.

I am obsessed with Hamilton the musical. Best piece of theatre ever. End of story.

I buy make up much more now than I did in my youth, and I have a very healthy collection of eyeshadow palettes. I love teen tv - Buffy remains my favourite ever programme, but I do enjoy any angsty teen drama. Stationery. Flavoured tea. Books. Crisps. Musical theatre. Pepsi Max. More books. Strawberries. Seasonal decor items. Photography. Even more books. These are some of my favourite things. When the wind blows..

No, let's not sing. Let's finish with a rant. I'm good at a rant. Things that make me grit my teeth and quieten an inner scream - rudeness, people playing music too loudly on public transport, queue skipping bandits, mushrooms, fireworks other than organised displays, bodyshaming, people who eat noisily or with their mouth open, and pineapple.

My train rants have become infamous so you'll see them here, all labelled with the Train Life tag - enjoy.

So that's me. I hope I haven't scared you away!
