Native Glasgow: contemporary, convenient, and chic

I've been enjoying trying out new hotels recently, both at home and afar. A few weeks ago, I decided to treat myself to a stay at an apartment style hotel in Glasgow.

I'd long since admired the beautiful Edwardian Anchor Line building, which was previously the headquarters for a shipping company and now home to the Anchor Line restaurant. I hadn't known that there were also apartments for short and extended stay in the building until I came across an ad for them. When I saw the ad, I definitely wanted to visit.

There are different versions of the apartment available, so you can choose which one would suit your needs best depending on who's with you and how long you're staying. I was tempted by the Penthouse Studio as it comes with an outside space, but as I was staying on my own, I probably wouldn't make the most of that, and so went for the Premium Studio. The photos on the site were beautiful and I was really intrigued by the combination of an apartment style living with the convenience and security of a hotel.

When I turned up, check in was very efficient but even more importantly, the Reception team member on duty was really friendly and welcoming and made me feel like a valued guest.

As I made my way to the room, I was very excited about what I'd find behind the doors. I was not disappointed - it was absolutely beautiful!

When I opened the door, I entered the kitchen/dining area:

This came complete with everything you'd need for preparing a meal in the room - fridge (complete with a little bottle of milk), two ring burner, microwave, dishwasher, pots & pans, crockery, utensils, bottle opener. If you're staying in town for a few days, and don't want to constantly eat out, this would be ideal.

The bedroom area is separated from the kitchen/dining area by a shelving unit, which houses the tv and lots of storage space, and is joined to the wardrobe. This is the only suggestion for improvement I'd make - when you're either cooking in the kitchen or eating at the table you can't watch TV. Ok if you're with someone and are chatting away, but when you're own, it would be nice to watch TV. It'd be ideal if the TV swivelled round so you could watch it from both the kitchen and the bedroom areas The bed itself is beautifully comfortable, with high quality bedding and pillows, and I love the colour scheme.

The bathroom is very spacious and bright, with a lit mirror, lovely toiletries and a huge powerful shower.

And one of my favourite things - power sockets right beside the bed, complete with USB ports!

All in all, I was very impressed with Native Glasgow. The apartments are absolutely perfect - the decor is peaceful, restful, elegant and with a real feel of luxury - and the facilities are thoughtfully designed to provide the visitor with everything you might need, with some lovely touches. Not to mention, the location could not be any more convenient - steps away from George Square, all the major shopping streets, and very close to both Central Station and Queen Street train stations. Whether you're visiting Glasgow for one night or a week, for work or for leisure, you'll find Native Glasgow an ideal base for your stay.

I'll definitely be back - and next time I'm going to try that Penthouse Studio!
